Quinn came to Syracuse University after serving as press secretary to former New York Governor George Pataki. In that role, Quinn was the governor’s primary day-to-day spokesman and spoke on his behalf to national and statewide media outlets on a daily basis. He managed the media relations operations of the governor’s press office and more than 70 state agencies and authorities. Quinn also collaborated in the development of the governor’s major speeches, including the annual State of the State Address and advised the governor’s senior staff on policy and strategic decisions and related messaging strategy.
Previously, Quinn served as director of communications for the New York State Division of the Budget, which spearheads New York’s $137 billion budget—the second largest public-sector budget in the nation. Prior to joining the budget division, Quinn was director of communications for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, and director of communications and marketing for the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR).
Quinn holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and has undertaken graduate studies in communications at the University at Albany.
