Dear Orange Friends:
I often get asked by my friends elsewhere to explain what is different about Syracuse. I try to explain why the people are wonderful. I have an even better answer now: Watch this video of the student presenters at the Fast Forward competition.
Friday I watched teams of students from across the University pitch their ideas for improving this place. Like so many others watching in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium, including tech executives, University leaders and parents, I was both blown away and driven to tears of appreciation. The student ideas were exciting, inspiring, and innovative. The attitude throughout was a combination of “we can do amazing things” and “we want to do great things for the best reasons.” Although the competition was organized by iSchool Dean Liz Liddy and her Fast Forward team of Julie Walas Huynh, Michael Clarke, and J.D. Ross, it was all driven by the students and about their ideas.
You just don’t get this elsewhere. Next time my friends ask me about Syracuse, I will send this video and say “it doesn’t get any better than here.”
