Faculty Excellence Recognized

Dear Orange Friends,

This week, Syracuse University reached a new milestone in faculty achievement. Eight of our professors earned a prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award in 2022. This represents the largest number of NSF CAREER awards earned in a single year by our faculty.

Award winners include Professors Sara Eftekharnejad, Ferdinando Fioretto and Zhao Qin from the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Also recognized are Professors John Franck, Brett Jakubiak, David Kellen, Davoud Mozhdehi and Minghao Rostami from the College of Arts and Sciences.

The highly competitive NSF CAREER awards celebrate exceptional faculty. This recognition serves to bolster the careers of some of our most promising early-career professors and support their innovative research. Like so many of our faculty, their commitment to research and teaching advances academic excellence, strengthens our university and inspires our Orange community.

Congratulations to these outstanding faculty. I’m proud these talented scholars call Syracuse home.

Sincerely,

Kent Syverud
